Yes. The math is identical — measure the area to be tiled (length × width) and enter it. For walls with openings (windows, doors), subtract the opening area first, or just add a higher waste factor. For shower surrounds, measure each wall separately and add the totals.
The grout line adds to the effective coverage of each tile. A 60×60 cm tile with a 5 mm grout line actually covers ~60.5 × 60.5 cm. Across a large floor, this adds up. Smaller grout lines (1–2 mm) need rectified tiles with precise edges; wider lines (3–5 mm) hide size variations in standard tiles.
Our calculator uses the standard 1 kg thinset per 2.5 m² (or 1 bag per 50 sq ft) for floors with a 1/4" notched trowel. Wall installations with smaller trowels use less; large-format tiles (60×60 cm+) may need a 1/2" trowel and 50% more thinset. Always check the manufacturer's coverage chart on the bag.
For wet areas (showers, kitchens, entryways) — yes. Seal grout 72 hours after installation and reapply annually. Epoxy grout doesn't need sealing but is harder to install. Add one bottle of sealer (covers ~15 m²) to your shopping list if your tiled area is in a wet zone.
