Measure once. Estimate right.
HomeLogic is a free, ad-supported suite of precision home improvement calculators. No logins, no paywalls, no upsells — just accurate math, elegant design, and a shopping list you can tick off at the hardware store.
Why we built this
Every homeowner eventually faces the same moment: standing in a paint aisle, holding a tape measure and a scrap of paper covered in half-erased arithmetic, wondering whether "two coats" really means buying a third tin. The maths isn't hard, but doing it under fluorescent lighting with a toddler in the cart is. So we built the calculator we wished existed.
HomeLogic exists to make basic home improvement math frictionless. Whether you're painting a nursery, retilling a backsplash, or pouring a shed base, you deserve a tool that respects your time, your eyesight, and your wallet. We use industry-standard coverage rates, real-world waste factors, and transparent pricing tiers — and we always tell you when an estimate is just an estimate.
How our calculators work
Each calculator runs entirely in your browser. There is no server, no database, no tracking of your room dimensions. The formulas use widely-published coverage rates from paint manufacturers, flooring industry standards, and concrete bag spec sheets. Coverage varies by brand, surface, and technique — we publish the assumptions inside each calculator so you can adjust if your project is unusual.
The dual unit system is the feature we're proudest of. Switch between Metric and US Imperial from the header and every label, placeholder, and result updates instantly. Your preference is saved in your browser's local storage — we never see it. Calculations branch on the active unit system, so Metric users get litres and square metres; US users get gallons and square feet, with appropriate cost tiers in euros and dollars respectively.
Our design principles
- Precision over polish. Beautiful interfaces that lie about quantities are useless. We round up where rounding matters (paint to the nearest 0.5 L, tile counts always whole) and we publish the math.
- Honest disclaimers. Every result ends with a reminder to verify with a professional. We are a planning tool, not a substitute for a contractor's quote.
- Accessibility first. WCAG 2.1 AA. Keyboard navigation, screen reader support, visible focus indicators, and high contrast. The web should work for everyone.
- No dark patterns. No fake urgency, no email walls, no "premium" tiers hidden behind the free version. The calculators are free; ads keep them that way.
How we stay free
HomeLogic is supported by Google AdSense Auto Ads. Ads appear automatically in content gaps and side rails — we never place them inside calculator inputs or results panels. If you find an ad intrusive or irrelevant, that's Google's algorithm, not our choice. We have no relationship with any paint, flooring, tile, or concrete brand, and we do not receive commissions from product recommendations.
The cost estimates shown in each calculator are based on publicly listed retail prices in mid-sized markets. They're a starting point for your budget, not a quote. Regional pricing varies enormously — always confirm at your local supplier.
Who's behind it
HomeLogic is built and maintained by a small team of frontend developers and one recovering general contractor. We work on it evenings and weekends because we believe basic tools shouldn't require a SaaS subscription. If you find a bug, have a feature request, or want to argue about grout line widths, please get in touch.
What's next
Planned calculators for 2026: drywall sheet estimator, wallpaper pattern matcher, insulation R-value calculator, and a deck board layout tool. We're also working on a "save your project" feature using local storage — no account required. Suggestions welcome via the contact page.
